Money Games for Kids

I have rounded up some of the best money games for kids on this page. I included board games, card games, puzzle games, and video games.

Money Board Games for Kids

I recommend a divers selection of kids board games with money although there are certainly more. I have personal problem with many of these games despite recommending them as fun and useful. Those for 8 year olds and older teach about money math, a necessary practical skill to learn yet most of them have the outcome of accumulating the most money and stuff to determine the winner. This promotes the destructive dynamic in our society propelled by consumerist values. For this reason Careers and Anti-Monopoly are my two favorites on this list as they are not based in becoming the richest person in life.

Also Red Neck Life I particularly like as it uses money though it is mostly just silly and fun to play. With these other games it is important parents counter them by explaining that goals for living should not be that “whoever dies with the most toys wins.”

Red Neck Life

This money board game’s recommended by the manufacturer for 12 year old kids but 5 year olds can play. Players use money in this game to buy a TV, go to a bar and fix their teeth after a brawl. This is a ridiculous romp for family fun with money.

In this game, players work and earn yet also spend. What I like about this game is kids seek to win “happiness,” a state of being in this learning game. It is not just about “success” based on a player having the most money or more stuff at game end.
